PAINT OUT - MARCH 2017
Big Bend National Park
and
Terlingua, Texas
March 6 - 12, 2017
This is the paint out you’ve been waiting for! OPS is going back to Big Bend National Park in March 2017. If ever a landscape “beckoned”, Big Bend summons painters from all over the US. Located waaaay out in Southwest Texas, the National Park gets its name from where the majestic Rio Grande takes a “big bend” on its journey to the Gulf of Mexico. Sometimes considered “three parks in one”, Big Bend has mountains, desert, and river environments. An hour’s drive can take you from the banks of the Rio Grande to a mountain basin nearly a mile high. In this park, you can explore one of the last remaining wild corners of the United States and experience unmatched sights, sounds....and sunsets! Nearby Terlingua is full of painting opportunities complete with a ghost town. Don't let the long drive (8 hours from DFW) discourage you from going to this paint out. It's well worth the effort.
